Scarf Pull - Homemade Baby Game

Using a $1 plastic bag dispenser (from Target), I made Baby H (8 months old) a new game.  I filled the dispenser with silk scarves and invited him to pull them out of the holes.  H found this very entertaining, especially when I showed him how to keep pulling and pulling the longer ones.  L and E (almost 3 years old) also had a good time with the scarves.  Here are some of the games we played...

Baby H enjoyed feeling the texture of the scarves in his hands, on his face, and in his mouth (of course).  He loved pulling the scarves out over and over (when he gets older he'll be able to put them back in again too).

We played peek-a-book with the scarves.  H has started to really get the concept of this game and covers/uncovers his face by himself.  We also pretended we were washing different parts of the body with the scarves while singing "This is the way we wash our toes, wash our toes, wash our toes.  This is the way we wash out toes so early in the morning," etc.. etc..  His big sisters joined in this one.

H loved watching the scarves fly through the air as L and E danced around the room and swung them around:

The girls waved their scarves high, low, fast, slow, in circles, in waves, etc.. as I sang to them.  We even tried playing jump-rope with the scarves (not very successful but it was fun trying).  The twins used their creativity and played with these scarves for a long time, making blankets for their dolls, dancing, and dressing up:

And Floppy Dog even got his own scarf seatbelt:

I know there were a bunch more silk scarf songs and games I played with the girls when they were babies, but I just can't remember them all.  Maybe I'll surf the web for some ideas when I get the chance.  I'm glad I had plenty of scarves so Baby H and his sisters could all play (usually they take over the baby toys I bring out for him).  This homemade game that took about 2 minutes to put together was quite the success.

Note: Remember not to leave your baby alone with scarves as they are a strangulation hazard.
