Yoga Fun for Preschoolers

I'd like to do yoga, but I don't.  I can't even touch my toes.  My kids, however, are apparently made of rubber.  To keep my little contortionists occupied, I bought them some yoga cards....

These yoga card sets, called Yoga Pretzels and Yoga Planet, have large colorful cards with various poses, games, and activities for both kids and adults.  I usually take out only a couple cards at a time to keep the kids from getting too distracted.  Then we pick a card and the girls try to do the pose.

We've been mostly sticking to the easy ones, but there are some pretty tricky poses and some partner exercises in the decks of cards, too, that we can work up to.  Not only is this a lot of fun, but it is a great way to build the kids' strength, flexibility and balance skills.  Sometimes I join in and try the poses too, and we all have a good laugh.

  1. Oooh, I LOVE this! The Clubhouse Kids love Yoga, and I have been doing Yoga with my Son since he was an infant. There are so many amazing books to go along with this, and so much dramatic play that can be incorporated with it! Have fun. Thanks for sharing :)

  2. Each Yoga studio should be a haven for students to find what they seek, without putting up with inferior service. They face far too much of it, outside the Yoga class. You should know the needs of your students and promise only what you can deliver.
